The rules and regulations that pertain to the Pacific Kennel Club Shows and all Specialties at the same location are listed below. Exhibitors are encouraged to read the rules carefully.

Rules and Regulations:


1   All exhibitors, handlers and patrons are expected to know and abide by the CKC dog show rules. The club reserves the right to remove any person from the show.  The Show Superintendent shall have full control of these shows and trials which will be governed by Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) rules; Please read these rules click button above.

 2 This is a Non Smoking Show.  Smoking on the Show grounds will not be tolerated.  There are no exceptions.

3 The Club reserves the right to decline entries for just cause, in which case the fee will be refunded along with the reason for non-acceptance. No one shall have any claim or recourse against the Club holding the show or any official connected therewith for refusal of an entry.

4.    Any dog excused by the Show Superintendent or Veterinarian for any reason shall not compete in any class for any awards for the balance of the show.

5.; The show giving club will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of accident or misfortune to either dogs, exhibitors, spectators or vendors.

6.    Exhibitors are solely responsible for the conduct of their animals while they are on the Show Grounds. Exhibitors are responsible for their equipment and possessions. Equipment will not be left on the show grounds or ring side overnight.  If you do it will be moved off the show site.

7.    Dogs must be on the show grounds 1 hour prior to the judging of their Breed.

8.    Dogs must be ready for judging. The club will not be responsible for and not obligated to provide any service for notifying owners or agent of breed or class judging. NO RING WILL BE HELD UP WAITING FOR EXHIBITORS OR HANDLERS.

9.    The owner of a dog entered in these shows is entirely responsible for any error in entering his/her dog regardless of how or by whom the entry was made.

10. Dogs are not to be exercised in vicinity of show rings and all feces must be picked up and disposed of in “Poop” bins provided on the grounds. For the benefit of, the pleasure of exhibitors and the health of animals and spectators we insist upon keeping the show grounds as clean as possible. Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Failure to comply may result in future entries being refused.

11. All trailers, motor homes, campers and recreational units will have buckets underneath their sink drains. Anyone found discharging gray or black water from their unit will immediately be removed from the grounds.  Those motor homes using generators must exhaust away from fellow exhibitors and dogs and turn off by 9pm.

12. There will be no other facilities in case of inclement weather, this is an outdoor show.

13. If because of civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the club or it is impossible to open or complete the show, there is NO Refund of entry.

14. Dogs must be on leash at all times on the Show Grounds or within the Show Area or building.  

15. Exhibitors must abide by errors made in entering their dogs, regardless of how or by whom the entries were made. Any exhibitor wishing to substitute or cancel an entry must do so in writing (email) before the hour of closing. Substitutions or cancellations of entries after the closing time are prohibited.


17. Entries will be acknowledged with a judging schedule as soon as possible after the closing date by email only. If it is not received within a reasonable time please contact the Show Secretary.

18.Please abide by the rules of recycling posted on the site.  We appreciate your help keeping the site free of litter.

19  Crates will be allowed at ringside during the judging of your specific breed ONLY and MUST BE removed immediately after, NO EXCEPTIONS.

20. Using the Hazelmere RV Park is a privilege, please be considerate as we want to use these grounds next year. Dogs are not allowed in the washrooms.

21.The Welfare of an exhibitor’s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the Exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that you will exercise control and restraint over the children in your care on the days of these shows.

22. The Club is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

23. Priority for Day Grooming space will be given to those who have pre-ordered space.  The club cannot guarantee space at last minute.

24. Priority will be given to those who have pre-ordered RV Space and Day tent space, please note; Space is both areas.

25. No generators will be allowed ringside.


15.1.1 A dog awarded WINNERS at a Championship show held under these Dog Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points ranging from 0 to 5. The determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder.

 15.1.2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded Winners shall be as follows:

In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points.

 15.1.3 If a dog awarded Winners is also awarded Best of Breed at the show, then all dogs competing in the breed, including Specials Only, shall be included in the total.

 15.1.4 If a dog awarded Winners is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, then all dogs of the same sex including those competing for Specials Only shall be included in the total.

 15.1.5 If a dog awarded Winners is also awarded Best of Winners, then all dogs defeated directly or indirectly in the breed shall be included in the total.

15.1.6 If a dog is awarded Winners only, then all the dogs of the same sex in the class competition shall be included in the total.

 15.1.7 The number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded Winners shall be determined by the highest award earned and calculated as per this section.


 Example of directly or indirectly defeating: If the Winners Bitch is awarded Best of Opposite Sex but not Best of Winners, the Best of Winners Male shall be deemed to have indirectly defeated the Specials Bitches, and is thus entitled to add them to the number of dogs and bitches defeated.

 15.1.8 In addition to championship points allocated at the breed level, a dog awarded Best of Breed which also places in the regular Group competition shall be credited with the following additional points provided that a dog was defeated at the Group level.

 A class dog awarded Best in Show at an all-breed Championship show will be credited with 5 points inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, shall NOT be included in the calculation for championship points effective January 1, 2012. Absentees are not to be included. In order for a dog to be recognized as a Canadian Champion it must: (1) earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges; and (2) be individually registered in the records of the CKC or have a CKC Event

15.1.9 A dog may not be credited with more than 5 championship points in a single show.


 Unsportsmanlike Conduct

 11.1 It shall be deemed unsportsmanlike conduct if a person during the running of or inconnection with an event abuses or harasses a judge, show official or any other person present in any capacity at the event. 

 11.2 Any handler who displays unsportsmanlike conduct or who is seen to kick, strike or otherwise roughly manhandle a dog at any time during the holding of the event, may be expelled from the show by the Conformation Show Committee.

 11.3 The judges shall also have the authority to expel a handler from a show if they observe unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of the handler or see the handler kicking, striking or otherwise roughly manhandling a dog while the event is in progress. It will be the duty of the judge to report promptly to the Conformation Show Committee the expulsion of a handler.

 Entries and Fees

 8.8 Fees

8.8.1 No dog shall be allowed to participate at a show unless the entry fee has been paid and any wins attained by a dog in violation of this rule shall be subject to cancellation.

 8.8.2 Tendering of a dishonored cheque or declined credit card in payment of an entry fee shall be considered non-payment of said fee and is an offense punishable

by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards.

 8.3 Entries

8.3.1 Every dog entered in a conformation show must be one of the following:

(a) registered with the CKC,

(b) have an Event Registration Number,

(c) eligible for registration with the CKC, or

(d) with the exception of baby puppy, if it belongs

to a listed breed, it must have a Miscellaneous Certification Number (MCN)

Miscellaneous Class Certification number issued by the CKC Chief Registrar. If a dog is

not registered individually in the CKC it may be entered at a show, held under these rules,

as a “listed” dog, provided

(a) it is not a Miscellaneous breed

(b) if born in Canada, is eligible for individual registration

(c) if foreign born and owned, an Event Registration Number or CKC registration

number is obtained from the CKC within 30 days of the first show entered.

A listing fee of $8.92 must accompany the entry of a “listed” dog at a show held under

these rules.


Entry forms which are incomplete or those that contain incorrect information after the

closing date of entries will be void and under no circumstances can changes be made.

Any dog taking a win resulting from such an entry will result in the wins being canceled,

and persons making such changes will be subject to disciplinary action.


14.1.4 Once a dog has been disqualified for any reason at a conformation show, it may not be entered or shown at another show until the dog has been reinstated by the CKC. All awards earned by a dog shown in violation of this section will be cancelled by the CKC and the owner of the dog is subject to disciplinary action.


9.4 The Show Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that any individual outside the ring who is engaged in double handling is promptly removed from the show premises.


 The following Regular CKC Classes, divided by sex, will be offered:

 JUNIOR PUPPY - This class shall be for any dog 6 months of age and under 9 months of age on the day of the show

 SENIOR PUPPY - This class shall be for any dog 9 months of age and under 12 months of age on the day of the show

 12 to 18 MONTH – This class shall be for any dog 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the show

 CANADIAN BRED CLASS - This class shall be for any dog born in Canada, Champions of any country excluded

 BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS - This class shall be for any dog owned and handled in the ring owner/breeder. The handler MUST be the owner/co-owner AND breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle the dog at the class level, but need not handle the dog for further awards

 OPEN CLASS - This class shall be for all dogs

 SPECIALS ONLY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog which has a recorded CKC Registration or Event Registration Number and has attained the required points for Championship status. Note: A Listed dog MAY be moved to the Specials Only Class after the closing of entries, provided the CKC Individual or Event Registration Number was received prior to the first day of the show. The request to move a class dog to the

Specials Only Class MUST be received by the Show Secretary one hour prior to the opening of the show on the day concerned. Listing Fees WILL NOT be refunded.

 EXHIBITION ONLY - All dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as dogs entered in regular competition. Dogs entered in this class MAY NOT COMPETE in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades ONLY


 BRACE CLASS This class shall be for two dogs of the same breed, not necessarily of the same sex

 VETERANS CLASS – Dogs must be 7 years of age and over on the day of the show. Dogs entered in this class may be spayed or neutered. Awards for this class are: Best Male Veteran, Best Female Veteran, Best Veteran in Breed, Best Veteran in Group, Best Veteran in Show. This class will be held on completion of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and PRIOR to Best in Show.

 SEXUALLY ALTERED CLASS - Eligibility for the Altered classes shall be limited to dogs over six months of age, which have been sexually altered by veterinary procedure. Points MAY NOT be carried from the regular competition judging to the Altered class judging. This class WILL be judged upon the completion of Veteran in Breed, Veteran in Group and Veteran in Show judging.

 Points towards a Grand Championship cannot be gained until a dog completes its Canadian Championship. The accumulation of points began January 1, 2013. The dog must compete in the Specials Only class. Twenty points are needed for the title (the forms are available for download from the CKC website and it is the responsibility of the owner to keep track and when they reach the 20 points, submit the form to CKC who will verify the wins, and if correct will issue a certificate). In the 20 points there needs to be a minimum of 1 Best of Breed and at least 2 – 2 point wins. The scale of points is the same as for regular championships. A judge will select Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog, Select Bitch. The latter 2 will be chosen from the remaining Specials dogs competing, if any in competition. The points are based on the total number of dogs defeated additional rules

I (we) acknowledge that I (we), all exhibitors, handlers and patrons, know and abide by the “CKC Dog Show Rules”, and that I am (we are) familiar with their content. I (we) agree that the Club holding this show has the right to refuse this entry for cause, which the Club shall deem to be sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of the Show and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prize money, ribbons or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the Pacific Kennel Club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or show secretary and the owner or lessor of the premises and any employees of the aforementioned parties, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of a dog while in or upon the show premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim, and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss of a dog by disappearance, theft, death or otherwise, and from any claim for damage or injury to the dog, whether such loss, disappearance, theft, damage or injury be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the Club or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the negligence of any other person, or any other cause or causes.

 I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves), or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this show, howsoever such injuries, death or damage to property may be caused and whether or not the same may have been caused and whether or not the same may have alleged to have been caused by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees or agents, or any other person.
